11–19 February · Tandådalen

Ice Karts Cup

The day before we drive onto the lake, we settle who really knows how to handle the slippery stuff. The race runs as a cup, the way rallycross does: practice first, then scored heats, and finally a final and a podium.

  1. 01

    Practice

Two sessions to learn the track. You find out how it’s laid out, how much grip the ice gives and how much the kart forgives. Times don’t count.

  2. 02

    Qualifying heats

Several heats, each with a few karts lined up side by side. Your finishing position earns points — the higher, the more. Points from all the heats add up into an interim classification.

  3. 03

    The final

The best of the interim classification go through to the final. No tactics left — only the order across the line counts.

  4. 04

    Podium

The top three take the podium. Trophies guaranteed — you can argue about the rest over dinner.

Entry fee

The karts aren’t included in the price of the trip — the day in Tandådalen is optional and paid separately. Anyone who doesn’t fancy racing can run practice laps for as long as they like. We’ll publish the entry fee before sign-ups open.

Åkersjön · Jämtland

Base for the ice days

Åkersjöns Fjällhotell — the mountain hotel that’s home for the whole stay on the lake. Freshly refurbished rooms, a fireplace by the bar, a restaurant, and a hot tub with a sauna for the evening after a full day in the car. Run by an owner who treats guests like friends — we checked it out ourselves in 2026.

Dinner: three courses, all from nearby

A starter, a main and a dessert. The hotel builds the menu from whatever is local and in season, so we won’t promise specific dishes — but so you know the sort of level we’re talking about, in 2026 we were served, among other things:

  • reindeer tartare
  • elk steak
  • fish from a mountain stream, caught nearby

Scandinavian cooking built on produce you simply can’t buy at home. It was one of those evenings the crew is still talking about on the drive back.

A twin room at Åkersjöns Fjällhotell — timber walls and a window onto the forest Plates of the main course going out from the kitchen at Åkersjöns Fjällhotell

Included

A garage for your car

The car spends the night under a roof, in the warm — not out in the frost. In the morning you don’t lose an hour to warming up and scraping windows, and if something needs tightening after a day on the ice, you can do it without gloves. In Scandinavia that’s rare and charged separately. With us it’s included.

Icedrive · the frozen lake

Three tracks,
300 km on ice a day

Every track has a twin cut beside it. When the ice gets worn and rutted, we move onto the fresh one — so you don’t lose a day fighting a broken surface.

How the ice days run

Timed runs happen on both dates — on the shorter one simply earlier, so the long track falls on fresh ice.

11–19 February

four days on the ice

  1. Days 1–2

    Bedding in

You get to know the tracks and how your car behaves on ice. You drive for as long as the tyres hold out.

  2. Day 3

    Three timed runs

Each track timed separately, one run per track. Three times — each track asks for something different.

  3. Day 4

    Three tracks in one

We join the three tracks into a single loop of about 10 km. One last run, one attempt, and at 14:00 we leave the ice.

20–27 February

three days on the ice

  1. Day 1 to mid-morning of day 2

    Bedding in

The same ice, just less time. A day and a half to get comfortable with all three tracks.

  2. Day 2, afternoon

    Three timed runs

Each track timed separately, one run per track.

  3. Day 3, morning

A last run on the long track

The three tracks joined into a loop of about 10 km. One final run on fresh ice before we leave the lake at 14:00.
